ABEO to supply Commonwealth Games for the third time running in 2018   (02/06/2017 08:00)

ABEO, a designer, manufacturer and distributor of sports and leisure equipment, today announces that its brand Spieth Gymnastics, a leading global supplier of gymnastics equipment, has been appointed Official Supplier of the upcoming Commonwealth Games due to be held on the Gold Coast, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018.

ABEO signed an agreement with the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee for the supply of all equipment to be used in the gymnastics events.

Peter Beattie AC, Chairman of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation responsible for organising the Games, said: “We chose Spieth, the No. 1 global brand, in order to guarantee athletes a competition on world-class equipment”.

Organised on a similar basis to the Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games is a multi-sport event that has been held every four years since 1930 (except for 1942 and 1946). The competition brings together the top sportsmen and women from the 70 participating Commonwealth countries and territories. In April 2018, 6,600 athletes will travel to the Gold Coast to compete in 25 different disciplines. Male gymnasts will compete in six disciplines (floor, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar), while the women's events will include vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor.

“After the 2014 Glasgow Games and the 2010 New Delhi Games, we are delighted to be able to once again contribute our expertise and the experience gleaned from successes such as the Rio Olympics to a competition of this scale,” ABEO CEO Olivier Estèves said.
